Re: [leafnode-list] Local newsgroups?

I think it's not possible (even with 1.10b2). What might work is a hack (I
have not yet tried this). The hack would work the following way:
1) you have to use 1.10b2
2) you must insert the local newsgroup into /var/spool/news/leaf.node/groupinfo
with an editor (i.e. by hand)
3) set timeout_active to a very high value because otherwise your
groupinfo file will be overwritten at some point
4) every time before executing fetch, execute rnews on
/var/spool/news/out.going (i.e. do "rnews /var/spool/news/out.going").
This should sort all data in that directory into the news spool.
5) afterwards, execute fetch
As I said, I have not tried this myself, so I would be interested to know
if it indeed works :-)
Theoretically, it should not be too difficult to add the capability to
the nntpd. Joerg Dietrich had a first go, but his patch had some memory
leak(s) which we could not track down. I am still intending to do it,
but you will have to wait until I am back in Germany and have fixed a few
other things ...
