I have the same problem doing a compile with FreeBSD 3.3 this is what
make says:

su-2.03# make
gcc -I. -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes
-g -c miscutil.c
miscutil.c: In function `rfctime':
miscutil.c:437: `timezone' redeclared as different kind of symbol
/usr/include/time.h:144: previous declaration of `timezone'
*** Error code 1

Stop.

I am trying to get leafnode 1.9.4 up and running.
