I think I have a solution for the problem, but it is buried quite deeply
within my latest alpha version and not easy to extract. If you want to
give this version a try, I can send you the sources.

The reason for the problem is that there were quite a lot of changes
between the old libc5 and glibc2.x in handling time.

I am yet quite hesistant to release this version because it contains a
lot of new code in fetchnews.c which does not work properly yet (it is
supposed to increase the speed of fetching articles). This code can be
inactivated by setting "#define OLDVERSION 1" at the top of fetchnews.c.
In that case, it runs quite fine on my local machine :-)
