[leafnode-list] Sending mail?

What does leafnode do when it wants to post to a moderated newsgroup? It's 
supposed to send mail to the moderator, right? How does it do this?

I've just discovered that none of my postings to moderated newsgroups have 
been going out. The system log says:

Nov  9 14:52:24 pearl fetchnews[20228]: Article 19246-942149694-3 rejected 
(/etc/sendmail.cf: line 0: cannot open: No such file or directory), moving to 
/var/spool/news/failed.postings/19246-942149694-3

This is quite correct; I *don't* have /etc/sendmail.cf. I use qmail instead.

What gives?
