It is not yet possible. I hope it will going to be possible with 2.0. This
version already contains some code which should make it easier to create
local newsgroups. I am not sure whether I'll manage to release it before
next year, though. (If you have not already done so, update to leafnode-1.9.4
and use the patch available from http://www.fredi.de/maillist/msg00771.html,
otherwise you'll be in for a surprise next year.)

First tests of the new version seem rather encouraging. Joerg Dietrich has
successfully debugged the latest alpha version, and it seems that the speed
of fetch has been going way up.
