That is intentional, because they both modify the same file
(/var/spool/news/leaf.node/groupinfo) which may lead to locking problems
if they both write into the same file (or one writes the file while
the other reads it).

Expiry is based on the time of retrieval, not on the frequency of invoking
texpire.

That's what I do as well. I use cron which works pretty fine for me.

It will most probably crash. I think its behaviour with respect to
overwriting the groupinfo file (messing up its contents) has improved,
but I am not 100% sure.
