I upgraded from 1.9.4 to 1.9.6 so I used update.sh.

$ df /var/spool/news/leaf.node/
Filesystem 1024-blocks Used Available Capacity Mounted on
/dev/sda2             694855  565843    93121     86%   /
$ df -i /var/spool/news/leaf.node/
Filesystem Inodes IUsed IFree %IUsed Mounted on
/dev/sda2             179520   34366  145154    19%  /

Another weird thing: it seems fetchnews checks for new newsgroups very
often; however I don't have the problem of all newsgroups been reported
as new.
