[leafnode-list] General weirdness

A weirdness has come upon my news server:

(a) knews reports one message in most newsgroups in the newsgroup list, but 
the article list doesn't display it.

(b) strn complains about newsgroups being reset.

(c) tin seems to work fine but doesn't display the number of unread articles 
in each newsgroup.

This affliction seems to have befallen about three-quarters of the newsgroups 
on my list. Everything was working fine yesterday. Does anyone have any 
suggestions as to what's going on? I've seen this behaviour before, but always 
limited to a couple of newsgroups from a private server; I'd put this 
behaviour down to a dodgy server. This is the first time I've had wide-spread 
failures.
