Yes, I have it and will include it in 2.0b9 (whenever it comes out).

It's because rnews does not know about pipes internally but writes
tempfiles when decompressing stuff. This obviously fails if the
input is a pipe. Reason for the problem: I didn't know how to implement
a pipe when I wrote rnews. (Now I know - at least theoretically -
thanks to APUE.)

I hope that I have more time for leafnode after the end of May
(when the wedding is over :-).
