It looks like I'll have some time to work again on leafnode.

Is this still the ancient texpire, i.e. the one from 1.9.x with
modifications for threading? If yes, I have a much faster, less
memory consuming texpire written by Stefan Wiens here. Has he
ever sent that to Cornelius or Matthias?

Do you already have "rnews does not work in pipes" in your TODO?
Don't ask me why that is. I just know the problem is there.
