Yes, just drop the pcre-subdir, and state clearly in the INSTALL files,
pcre is needed to build leafnode, that's ok. But there should propably
a switch:
--with-pcre=/dir
because older pcre's don't provide pcre-config.

I'll test rc2 propably tomorrow.

Looking at ./config.status --recheck, it seems to run ../configure ...
--no-create, which doesn't run config.status at the end,
which is all very wierd ;-)

This was the beaviour with 1.9.19, fine, thanks.

The update-instructions from 1.9.x are not very clear,
if "make update" is needed or not.
Are there any changes I missed, causing slrn to drop all groups?
(I don't have local groups, and didn't run fetchnews, I just wanted to
test leafnode with my existing spool)

Yes, of course, I update critical packages by installing newest
tarballs,
sendmail was replaced by postfix and so on ;-)
