One thing I read but did not become aware of when I was reading this
mail first, is the "cnfs.c:1358 Can't malloc ... bytes: Cannot allocate
memory" string. I checked the leafnode 1.9.18 code, and it has no
"allocate memory" or "Can't malloc" strings.
Effectively, that error message is not leafnode's, but that of your
server, which may have a corrupt news spool, so the admin of your
upstream server needs to look after his INN.
Andrey, would you contact the news admin of the server that gave you
this error message? They may not have noticed they have a corrupt news
spool.
Of course, upgrading leafnode was evidently not the cure, as Andrey has
reported in private mail, but updating from 1.9.18 to 1.9.19 with the
locking fix patch fixes one very important bug that might corrupt
leafnode's groupinfo file otherwise, so that's not been in vain. Further
changes since 1.9.18 are detailed in
http://www.leafnode.org/changes1.9.html.
