[leafnode-list] Nemesis is back

Hi.  Bachk from Bendigo and found a house to move into.

Actually my departure was delayed, so I played around a little more.

The original /etc/ld.so.conf contained only two entries:

/usr/i486-linux-libc5/lib
/usr/X11R6/lib   

I added /usr/local/lib and ran ldconfig. For some reason my system refuses to 
recognize the change, so I am using a script file.

I installed version 2.0b8_ma8, which couldn't find a FQDN.  It seems that 
whgen I adopted one with linuxconf, it didn't change /etc/hosts.

I ran texpire -r, and watchwed it do its thing.

I then ran fetchnews -f.  Another hiccup.

First there was a lockfile perhaps left over from the previous version.  I 
deleted it.

The list of newsgroups appeared to download normally, and a groupinfo file 
was created each time, but it is always zero bytes long.  Knode then says 
that it can't connect to the leafnode server.  The logfile (which follows) 
seems perfectly normal, and I have double-checked the permissions. and the 
setting for $NNTPSERVER.
