Re: [leafnode-list] Server refuses connection
Thanks Stefan.
Checking things over, I found that the config file had user and group root,
so I changed that to news, but it wasn't enough.
The telnet test verified that a connection was not possible.
I did find that in /etc/xinetd.d/leafnode, the first line "disable=no" had
been displaced to the right, so I put it back, but this wasn't the answer
either.
One thing that I had noticed but overlooked mentioning: whenever I shutdown
xinetd is not running. I tried restarting xinetd twice in succession, and
both times the response was:
Stopping xinetd: [FAILED]
Starting xinetd: [ OK ]
further, there is no xinetd listed by ps aux. So it looks as though xinetd
is stopping as soon as it starts.
Although I am using xinetd, the suggested test running "inetd -d" used to
give the right answer. Now it doesn't any more.
Regards,
Doug.
