[leafnode-list] Re: Fetchnews falsely thinks I switched upstream servers?

First off, I'd like to thank the author for Leafnode, and in particular, fetchnews... it is perfectly suited to my task, which is pulling down of usenet headers (only), and inserting them into a mysql database for data mining purposes. After insertion, each message header is deleted.

I have a problem, however, and that is that every few times I start leafnode, it asks me if I've "switched upstream servers", and pulls down *all* headers.

My suspicion is that the problem is because my scripts "cleanup" processes which remove messages after parsing, are removing a particular, necessary leafnode file... but I cannot figure out which one.

Here are the criteria for file removal:

-All messages all removed from /var/spool/news/.../.../...after parsing. Directories are left.
-After script completion, all files in /var/spool/news/message.id are removed
-All other files are kept.

What file is it I am removing that is causing fetchnews to get confused?

Thanks in advance,
Dan.
