I still don't have 2.4.8 working (my firewall script complained about 
incompatible iptables version or something, and it didn't bring up my eths 
even when I rebooted 2.4.3), so it's probably not going to be worth the 
trouble. It hangs only occasionally. They are stock kernels from Mandrake 8.1 
and 8.0.
