[leafnode-list] stale lockfiles not removed?

Hi folks,

I've been running leafnode-2.0b8_ma9 for about two weeks now.  When 
fetchnews tries to run while texpire is doing its thing, it exits and
leaves behind a lock file of the form: fetchnews.lck.XXXX5Ygu70

These stale lock files do not seem to ever get cleaned up.  Is there a
config option I'm missing, is this a known bug (maybe with a patch
available?), or do I just need to write a script to clean up 
periodically?
