[leafnode-list] call for testers: 1.9.23.pre3 available
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
leafnode 1.9.23.pre3 is available from
http://mandree.home.pages.de/leafnode/
Please do test this version when you're using any previous 1.9.* version
of leafnode, I'm about to release 1.9.23 soon.
NOTE: NOBODY, really NOBODY should continue to use 1.9.19 or previous
versions after the release of 1.9.23. 1.9.22 has issues on 64bit
machines, that's why I'm not recommending 1.9.22 for immediate upgrade
now.
To make it a smooth upgrade, let me know of any problems when upgrading
to 1.9.23.pre3.
Things to look at: what does fetchnews or leafnode (nntpd) do with
folded lines? Are Lines: headers correct? Does texpire work for you?
Does subscribing to groups that have expired work for you, particularly
slrn users should see improvements.
Do you understand the "DEBUGGING" section of the README file? What other
parts of documentation are unclear or incomplete?
Example of a folded header:

ChangeLog excerpt:
2002-06-22 Matthias Andree <matthias.andree@xxxxxx>
* grouplist.c: Also list "groups" that have no subdirectories.
* activutil.c, fetchnews.c, nntpd.c, texpire.c: Further fixes to
article number treatment.
* fetchnews.c: The check to suppress the upstream server's xref:
header is now case insensitive. Only store articles if all six
mandatory headers are present.
* nntpd.c: robustness: when a group is empty and not interesting,
also mark it as pseudogroup if the group directory still exists.
Reported against leafnode-2 by Ralf Wildenhues.
* leafnode.h: new fixxover() prototype. new #define
PORTFILENAMECSET, a string that contains all characters of the SUS
v2 portable file name character set
* TODO: Mirko Liss' suggestion to not read empty lines is
implemented.
* Makefile.am: make temp.files directory
* lockfile.c: if timeout is 0, do not try any timeout handling.
* xoverutil.c: Fix memory leaks in obscure cases. Also, xoverutil
would not recover properly from multiple lines for the same article
in .overview (which should not happen and is now logged with
LOG_ERR). Reported by Ralf Wildenhues.
* miscutil.c: when recreating missing directories, fix owner to
news before setting the uid. Create new temp.files directory.
* fetchnews.c, xoverutil.c: Move fixxover from fetchnews.c into
xoverutil.c.
2002-06-21 Matthias Andree <matthias.andree@xxxxxx>
* miscutil.c: Call endhostent().
2002-06-20 Matthias Andree <matthias.andree@xxxxxx>
* README: fix broken cut & paste
2002-06-19 Ralf Wildenhues <ralf.wildenhues@xxxxxx>
* xoverutil.c: getxover: after releasing xoverinfo contents, set
xoverinfo = NULL, so subsequent access will scream. Duplicate
strings from overview, don't point into it. Small memleak in
getxoverline.
* texpire.c: Fix memleak.
