[leafnode-list] HEADS-UP: leafnode support discontinued for dialup IP mail blockers.

Hello,

I recently got a few private inquiries concerning leafnode from people
that block mail from dialup-sites, thus, my replies bounced. This is
impolite and a waste of my time. If you send inquiries, make sure you
can receive the reply.

I'm will no longer try to resend mail via static IP relay unless I have
the feeling that blacklist has more than, say, 100,000 clients (like
aol.com or web.de or somesuch), it's all a waste of MY time.

I'm sending my mail from a dialup-IP and I won't change that for
reliability and transparency reasons, because I cannot afford leasing or
renting a root server to do my mail handling at the moment, and my ISP
won't let me look into his mail queues or mail logs, so I cannot trace
any difficulties.

So, if you have inquries, either:

(the preferred way)
1 - send them to the leafnode mailing list (someone else may be able to
answer sooner than I am), it sits on a static-IP mail server,

or

(if you have sensitive information, security-related inquries that
should not immediately released to the public)
2- make sure you can receive mail from dial-up IPs. Sites that use
dynablock.wirehub.net or dialups.mail-abuse.org or something like that
will NOT be able to receive my replies, and I'm not going to work around
that any more.

Blacklisting dialups is fundamentally wrong and discriminating, more
reasoning is available at
http://homepages.tesco.net/~J.deBoynePollard/FGA/maps-dul-is-wrong.html
which I support, but which I will not discuss.

If you want my help, please play by my rules, and there are only two
easy of them:

#1 don't waste my time
#2 don't put obstacles in my way (DUL is one such)

I don't have much time to spend on leafnode anyhow, and please don't
reduce that by putting up unnecessary obstacles.

I'm well aware that spam is a real problem (I get more spam than private
mail every day myself), but DUL is not a solution to this problem, and
it's not too effective either. Tell your ISP to use tarpitting instead
of DUL.

Thanks for your attention and your understanding.
