i get these all the time using gnus, and i think it also happens with
slrn, but nothing's really wrong there.  maybe your window$ client
ignores the fact that connections time out and insists on getting let
in without sending authentication (starting a new session) first?

why don't you try the debug-option which makes leafnode log the
communication, that would be a good check for this theory.
