I am against storing them there altogether. It is not the task of
a local newsserver to play backup for broken upstream servers. In
there case that a newsmaster messed up the status or moderators
file, the user should just beat him very hard. Most newsreaders
anyway allow (and will by default) archive outgoing postings. I
see no need for additional redundancy in a newsserver whose jobs
it is to just pass along the articles it receives.

If somebody has a sloppy newsmaster upstream and still wants to
keep that server as first server, he should simply add the
appropriate entries to the local moderators file.
