rm /var/spool/news/interesting.groups/big.fat.binary.group
rm -rf /var/spool/news/big/fat/binary/group
texpire

This will not catch articles that have been crossposted, but it should
do the job.

If you want to keep some groups, use the groupexpire feature (see
config.example) to set the expire to like 2 days, try:

groupexpire another.big.fat.binary.group = 2
