Strange weed that you had in your pipe. kill -HUP is as good as kill
-KILL and should not be used.

If fetchnews 1.9.29 should really hang (process state "D" for _D_eep
Sleep does not qualify, that's beyond any user space to handle) after
kill -TERM or kill -INT (these are equivalent to fetchnews), I'd like to
see a stack backtrace. See the FAQ at
