Hi,

Richard van der Hoff contacted me with a patch to change the timeout
handling code, he figured that on non-BSD systems, including Linux, only
the first timeout ever was detected, because after the first timeout, no
subsequent timeout would be handled. His patch should fix this problem.

If you have had fetchnews processes hanging without ever getting
terminated (for example multi-upstream configuration and fetchnews
launched from /etc/ppp/ip-up or from cron), please give 1.9.31.devel1 a
whirl, it may well fix the issues you've been having.

I also figured that leafnode suffered from PCRE build troubles on a
Solaris 8 machine with Sun Workshop Pro 6, and fixed the PCRE build yet
again (and sent Philip Hazel the fix I applied), so this should improve
your build experience. As well.
