Notable changes over alpha20021229a:

* forward port of the leafnode-1 fixes to treat two groups with names
  that only differed in upper case vs. lower case. leafnode prefers the
  lower case version. Reported by Jeff Grossman.
* temp.files/a-b-c are now properly unlinked, reported by Robert
  Marshall.
* Solaris SunPro 6/gcc 2.95 portability restored.
* signal handling bug fixes.
* fetchnews tries DATE to the upstream server and complains if the
  clocks are more than ten minutes apart.
* Maximum token size in configuration files (regexps!) was increased to
  1024.
* assorted other bugfixes, fixing segfaults, improving configuration et
  al.
