Um, OK. I'm obviously not explaining this properly.

Up until last week, there were two main cronjobs running. The first was to
run a perl script called 'ngstatistics' [1], and place it into /root. A
small script would then be called that would 'cat' and >> the contents of
this 'output-file' onto a set of headers, which I had prepared. The entire
file would then be moved to /var/spool/news/out.going, and the next time
fetchnews ran, it would be posted. That set-up has been running
_perfectly_ since September 2002.

Since I installed 1.9.32, the files are no longer posted. No, they're not
'leafnode' files (whatever that means), but they _were_ being posted
without any problem, until I installed 1.9.32.

Is that clearer ?
