1.9.x is the current stable branch while the 2.0x versions are
somewhere between alpha and beta stage.

2.0x supports local newsgroups, has a faster fetchnews, expires
by thread, more flexible filtering plus some smaller new
features. It is however not mature enough to be called stable,
although I use it exclusively for more than three years now.

Changing from 1.9 to 2.0 you will lose your spool and lose it
again if you decide to change back.
