Thank you for reporting this, the support of newsgroups the names of
which are prefixes to other groups' names is at best fishy. I'll check
if there's something I can do without tipping over the whole code ;-)

Could you do me the favour of showing me the output of:
ls -l /var/spool/news/interesting.groups/rec.music.cl*
