I added initialfetch after your message. But now it happened again.
$ grep -e initialfetch /usr/local/etc/leafnode/config
initialfetch = 100
$ leafnode-version
version: leafnode-2.0.0.alpha20030814a
gnus.gnus-bug: last seen article was 51255, server now has 22998 - 51248
gnus.gnus-bug: switched upstream servers? 51255 > 51248
gnus.gnus-bug: considering 28251 articles 22998 - 51248, using XOVER
