I have seen it, but before messing with the news database I would

I have followed the directions in /usr/share/doc/leafnode/README.gz
(section PROBLEMS) of Leafnode 1.9.19-7 in Woody:

- added `news.=debug        /var/log/news.debug' to /etc/syslogd.conf
- restarted the syslog daemon

But the additional info il limited:
