Well, not yet, and I haven't had a decent implementation idea yet
either.

Workaround procedure:

            1. set up as usual

            2. stuff your local groups into a checkgroups file as shown
               in a previous mail

            3. run a "fetchnews -f ; checkgroups chkgrps.txt"
               combination every 88 days (any shorter interval than
               timeout_active should do)

#3 will make sure that the group wil re-appear after being dropped by
fetchnews -f, and running fetchnews -f earlier than timeout_active will
makes sure it's under your control rather than fetchnews's.
