The symptom may not be identical, but without more details, I suspect it may

Outlook appears to try to do some things in a massively parallel way.

I've a strange error. 

OS: FreeBSD 6.1-PRERELEASE
Leafnode: leafnode 2.0.0.alpha20060321a
Error in /var/log/messages
Mar 30 23:00:49 orac inetd[593]: nntp from 192.168.1.64 exceeded counts/min
(limit 60/min)
Mar 30 23:00:49 orac last message repeated 7 times

At that time Outlook Express tried to access leafnode, but failed

Can anyone help me to solve this problem?
