Don't worry about the localhost name - it works in addition to your
FQDN. So you can just set


in /etc/conf.d/hostname and


in /etc/conf.d/domainname (or use /etc/conf.d/net, like the gentoo-wiki
says) and the IP address and FQDN in resolv.conf:       localhost	arrakis.doesntexist.org
# or whatever private IP your host has
