Manually installed leafnode puts the executables in /usr/local/bin but the RPM installs them in /usr/bin.  If your /etc/inetd.conf file points to /usr/local/bin/leafnode then you will get the old version.  Edit the inetd.conf file to point the nntp port response to /usr/bin/leafnode instead.
