Re: [leafnode-list] trying to change home directory for news...

<x-flowed>
Thanks to the both of you for your suggestions....
I'm a big fan of using rpms as much as possible, so I'm not too keen to
recompile leafnode if there's a possible alternative. The symlink hit it
perfectly acceptable to me.

Thanks,

G

Guys,

I'm looked over the website and searched the archives of this mailing
list, but I couldn't find any info pertaining to the following. Please
excuse me if this has been answered already.
I'm trying to have leafnode live in "/home/news" instead of
"/var/spool/news".... the reason being that I have to partitions:
- / - 4GB
- /home - 80GB
As you can imagine, I would much rather keep leafnode and all the
downloaded articles on my biggest drive.
So my question: Is the /var/spool/news directory hardcoded into
leafnode? Or can I change this setting?
Thank you for any help,

G

It is a compile time option. You will need to recompile Leafnode.

Another option would to move the files, delete the directory
/var/spool/news, then make a symlink at /var/spool/news pointing to
/home/news. This way leafnode et. al. will still think they are running
out of /var/spool/news.
There is a slight performance hit with symlinks, but it shouldn't be all
THAT bad.
