Yup. Unfortunately Kazushi has only little time at the moment. You
can consider texpire as merged (not strictly true; texpire was
merged already in 1.9.2, but there have been some changes in leafnode
afterwards of which I am not sure whether they made it to leafnode+).
The nntpd's are probably functionally quite equivalent as well, but the
fetchnews programs are very different.
